Bhopal: According to a report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), at least one infant was abandoned in the past 3 years by their parents every second day. A total of 532 cases of abandonment were registered in the state in the past 3 years from 2019 to 2021.

NCRB also highlighted that 22 per cent of the total 2352 cases registered in the entire nation were registered in Madhya Pradesh in the past three years. In a recent case witnessed on Tuesday, an 80month0old infant was found abandoned near a crematorium in Narsingarh of Rajgarh district. The infant was rushed to the hospital when the locals informed the police.

The state has also reported the highest number of abandonment in year 2019 when 187 cases were registered against 896 cases were registered in entire nation. Moreover, in 2020 also highest number of infant abandonments were recorded in Madhya Pradesh as the state recorded a total of 186 such cases against 747 national cases.
