Since the big political parties in Bihar, such as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Janata Dal (United), and their smaller supporters, are already announcing the lists of candidates in the upcoming assembly elections, frustration among the non-ticketed candidates is already turning into an open issue. On Thursday, one such incident attracted the attention of many people when the leader of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) [LJP(R)], Abhay Kumar Singh, burst into tears on camera in front of being denied a ticket by the Morwa constituency in the Samastipur district.

A video of Singh is now going viral on social media platforms, where he is seen shedding tears and accusing the senior party officials of corruption and favoritism in the candidate selection exercise. In the video, Singh accuses him that money was a determining factor, as he asserts that someone paid more than him, and that is the reason why he was given the ticket. Now I am giving up politics; now I start crying.

The video has elicited a lot of political discussions in Bihar, with many social media users doubting the nature of transparency and in-house decision-making in the ruling NDA alliance. Singh had been an LJP(R) candidate against the Morwa seat in the 2020 assembly elections and hoped to be contested again in the same seat.

Originally, the Morwa and Rosra seats were considered to be included in the 29 seats, which Chirag Paswan under the NDA had agreed to share. Nonetheless, there are reports that the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar was dissatisfied with this allocation. This led to the Morwa constituency being transferred under the quota of JD(U), and the previous MLA, Vidyasagar Nishad, was finally declared the candidate.

Shocked by the move, Singh took to Facebook to live to talk about his despair, and in a very emotional speech to the supporters, he declared that he was retiring politically. Looking clearly in distress, he declared that he had felt betrayed and had no longer the desire to continue to engage himself in political affairs.
