ZPM leader Lalduhoma was sworn in as Mizoram’s Chief Minister, joined by 11 ministers. The oath ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan, attended by outgoing CM Zoramthanga and MNF MLAs, including Lalchhandama Ralte and former CM Lal Thanhawla.
Before the ceremony, Lalduhoma met the Governor to stake a claim, expressing plans for the new government’s formation and priorities. “Our focus is on buying agricultural products, and we’ve identified four items,” he stated.
After Monday’s polls, ZPM secured a significant victory with 27 seats, toppling the reigning MNF. BJP and Congress trailed with two and one seat, respectively. ZPM’s Eddy Zosangliana noted the Val Upa Council’s meeting to determine the council of ministers.
In a post-victory address, Lalduhoma pledged a resource mobilization team for financial reforms, addressing Mizoram’s financial crises inherited from the outgoing government. He emphasized farmers as a top priority and outlined plans for three new hydroelectric dams, aiming for 300 MW power generation with a commitment to stable power tariffs for five years.
Lalduhoma’s vision includes navigating financial challenges and ensuring the well-being of farmers. His commitment to hydroelectric projects reflects ambitions for sustainable energy, promising stability in power costs. As Mizoram ushers in this new leadership, the focus on agriculture and energy signals a strategic direction for economic and infrastructural development.
