The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has given actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay a formal notice to appear to answer the questions regarding the Karur stampede case. The investigation is an important development in the continuing investigation into the event that had raised a lot of concern and political discourse in Tamil Nadu.
The notice was delivered, according to the official sources, as a part of the CBI activities of collecting the detailed information connected with the circumstances which resulted in the stampede. The case is being examined in different areas such as crowd management, event organisation, and involvement of the organisers and key people related with the programme at which the incident took place.
Karur stampede was said to have happened in a public gathering in which many people attended which caused chaos and people were injured because the crowd control factor was maneuvered supposedly to fail. Reports stated that Vijay is being requested to collaborate with the investigation and give his version on the arrangements and decisions that were made, associated with the event. Vijay is the founder and leader of TVK and is now a political figure of significance in the state and the decision made by CBI has attracted attention not only by the political fraternity but also by the general population. The actor-politician supporters have argued that the actor will be fully cooperative to the agency and the opposition leaders have demanded accountability and firm action towards those who caused the lapse.
The CBI has again reminded that the investigation is being done fairly and professionally, and all the persons are being given notices.
