Bangalore: Speaking in the capacity of Karnataka Home Minister, G. Parameshwara stated on Tuesday regarding the living of Bangladesh nationals in Karnataka and promised that the state will not allow any Illegal immigrants from Bangladesh to reside in Karnataka in the near future. He said those will be arrested and detained in centers and will be expelled when they are discovered to be residing in the country without legal papers like passports or visas. The purpose of this drive is to arrest and send undocumented individuals out of the state and back to Bangladesh.
These remarks came after the former chief minister and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai talked about the issue of the settlement of the Bangladeshis in Bengaluru and how they could pose a threat to the state and the nation. In response, Parameshwara outlined the process that will be implemented: once such people are profiled, they engage in the irregularity of being arrested and detained in detention centers. The Karnataka government will then inform the Bangladesh High Commission or Ambassador about the violation and seek their permission to deport.
The Home Minister also countered some preceding comments with BJP leader B. Bhaskar Rao, an earlier Bengaluru Police Commissioner. Rao has said that he believed that the deportation of Bangladeshi nationals was being hampered by political backing. Parameshwara made his shot at Rao, as the later noted that while serving as the Commissioner, Rao failed to implement deportations properly. Parameshwara confirmed that under the current government, security is being built to a level that tackles the issue of illegality more effectively. He was equally careful to remind the crowd, everybody and anybody, whoever you are, if there is evidence of having perpetuated the law, you will be dealt with厩untlet.
Besides, Parameshwara added that the arrest of Bangladeshi migrants has been on and is a part of the state’s mechanism and strategy to ensure orderliness. For its part, the government continues to commit to enforcing immigration laws and security in Karnataka with vigilance on unlawful stayers and decisive measures to deal with them.
