On Monday, RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna complained to Karnataka Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh for allegedly transferring files and documents related to the alleged MUDA scam involving Siddaramaiah. It was filed by the Director General of police, Alok Mohan, and it contains allegations of the minister as well as the former Superintendent of Police of Lokayukta in Mysuru, Sujeeth.
In the complaint, it was alleged that Sujeeth had informed Minister Suresh when the MUDA scam was exposed initially. Suresh has been alleged to have moved from Mysuru to New Delhi by helicopter in July to fetch documents concerning the scandal. This, too, contributed to the complaint described as Sujeeth helping Suresh move these files to obscure the alleged irregularities. This event leads to lots of concerns about the ethical standards of the officials involved and the security of documents that are of high importance to current investigations.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) too, has lodged an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) — which is akin to FIR — for the alleged misconduct of the chief minister in getting 14 sites allotted to his wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
Meanwhile, the Lokayukta officials carried out a spot check on the 14 MUDA sites on Friday. In this inspection, officials from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority and district administration, as well as some of them, took measurements of these plots. Snehamayi Krishna, one of the most prominent critics of the MUDA case, was also around during the inspection since the Lokayukta called him to give details.
On September 27, the Lokayukta police recorded an FIR against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, his wife, and others after the Special Court issued a direction on September 25. By focusing on the state’s urban development, this continuous study presents ambiguity and possibly corrupt scenarios in the processes.
