Manesar: In a fatal incident, a 17-year-old kanwariya lost his life while two others sustained serious injuries in the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, Manesar tragedy. The incident took place late on Wednesday morning at approximately 2:45 AM when a speeding truck apparently deviated from its trajectory and attacked a motorcycle that was occupied by Kanwariyas. The deceased is a man with the identifier Hemant Meena from Paneda, Behror, Rajasthan.

This caused an instantaneous demonstration from other felons on pilgrimage to Rajasthan. This upset the pilgrims, who, in a bid to prevent the repeat of the act, held both sides of the National Highway 48 (NH-48), causing a traffic jam for almost two hours. ADC (West) Karan Goel said that over 200 policemen were called to deal with the situation. There were huge snarls of traffic on the Delhi-Farah-Sohna link expressway, particularly between Kherki Daula and the closed Sirhaul toll plaza, where the traffic was slow-moving.

Goeol reported that the truck driver was arrested and that the truck was loaded with sand during the incident. Yes, a case has been registered with the police regarding the Kherki Daula police station. Another kanwariya, Sunil Kumar Yadav from Kotputli, Rajasthan, said the unfortunate incident occurred, and a person named Hemant Meena died on the spot, and the other two on the motorcycle were critically injured with fractures. Earlier, they were admitted to different hospitals as they were said to receive treatment and are said to be stable now.

Another Rajasthan-based Kanwariya, Surinder Yadav, said that more than 70 Kanwarias in the group recently went to Haridwar for the ritual of Jal Abhishek. He further said they wanted the deputy commissioner to give ₹50 lakh compensation, medical bills of the injured and a government job for the family of the deceased.

Responding to the event, Virender Vij, the deputy commissioner of police traffic, said that adequate security structures had been provided for the ongoing pilgrimage. It has adopted the tactic of having different zones in the city policed by different police squads and the provision of ambulances.
