On Sunday, the police in Gujarat launched a major swoop in the Ankleshwar industrial area in the district of Bharuch, searching for banned narcotics at a factory and detaining one man in connection with the offense. The SOG reports suggested that a total of 427 kg and 141 grams of Methamphetamine (MD), which is said to be worth ₹14.10 lakh, were seized from a firm which is identified as Avastar Enterprise, situated in the Ankleshwar GIDC. This operation was a coordinated one with the assistance of the district SOG and Surat police. These have been subjected to tests, and in case they are found to be illegal drugs, they have been forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
This latest drug seizure comes after over 500 kgs of cocaine worth ₹5,000 crore was seized from the Avkar Drugs Limited factory in Ankleshwar in a Gujarat and Delhi police crackdown earlier this month. The authorities seized cocaine after receiving an anonymous tip given through a central agency about an international narcotic drug cartel planning to smuggle cocaine into Delhi. The seizure also meant the first time that the police found 40kgs of hydroponic marijuana in the national capital.
In connection with the cocaine bust, the Special Cell of Delhi police arrested four individuals: Tesar Singh Goyal (40), residing at Vasant Enclave, New Delhi; Himanshu Kumar (27) resident of Hind Vihar, New Delhi; Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23) resident of Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, Bharat Kumar Jain (48) resident of Kurla, Mumbai.
Subsequent to these operations, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) confiscated MD drugs and Materials from a factory in Bhopal valued at ₹ 1.814 crore. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi thanked the agencies. He said, “This has demonstrated the dedication of our law enforcing agencies against drug peddling and consumption.” The jointly executed activities are essential in the provision of health as well as protection to our society.
