Officials say N Biren Singh and Leishemba Sanajaoba both flew to New Delhi to speak to higher-level officials about the ongoing trouble and fresh violence in Manipur. Arambai Tenggol member Kanan Singh’s arrest caused more unrest, which led to the foreign delegation visiting the area. Singh’s arrest by the CBI and the detention of his supporters caused riots in Imphal that led to injuries to at least 11 people during the weekend.

When he talked to reporters, Biren Singh did not say if the Union Home Minister called them, yet he stressed that their aim was to update high-level officials about the critical situation. At this point, it is very important to act intelligently. Everyone should come together and remain careful in any disaster. Mr. Zelensky urged his country to put peace and unity above all else.

After protests took place, the situation in the state capital became tense quickly. People taking part in protests ignored the curfews and prevented traffic by burning tires and putting up roadblocks. As some of the crowd set fire to a police outpost and threw rocks at the security officers, tear gas was used to control them. Arambai Tenggol is behind a 10-day shutdown requesting Kanan Singh’s freedom.

The government blocked mobile data and broadband in Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur so that there would be no chance to spread false news online. This year, the Bishnupur district got a curfew for the first time, and movement was restricted in several valley parts.

The meeting scheduled between officials from the Union Home Ministry and Kuki-Zo militants happened at the time of the violence.
