Anant Kumar Singh, commonly known as ‘Chhote Sarkar’, is a former don turned politician who has submitted his nomination papers as a JD(U) candidate from the Mokama assembly seat in Bihar. In the affidavit Singh submitted to the Election Commission, he stated that he has movable and immovable assets worth ₹37.88 crore. This includes ₹15.61 lakh in cash, three luxury SUVs valued at ₹3.23 crore, gold jewellery worth ₹15 lakh, and several bank accounts. He has declared other livestock assets, including horses and cows.
Singh’s wife, Neelam Devi, who won the Mokama seat in 2020 on the RJD ticket, has switched her allegiance to the NDA government. For her assets, she declared that they total ₹62.72 crore, including: three luxury cars, a value of ₹77.62 lakh; gold jewellery worth ₹76.61 lakh; and cash totaling ₹34.60 lakh.
Singh, who has been an MLA from Mokama in Bihar five times, has had 28 criminal cases lodged against him, making his candidacy very contentious. Mokama is scheduled to go to the polls on November 6 in the first phase. The JD(U) has made his nomination official after communicating the party symbol.
