Caretaker Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde was taken to a Thane hospital on Tuesday after his condition did not respond to treatment. Other sources confirmed that Shinde, who has been down with a throat infection and fever for the past week, was taken for a check-up at the hospital. The doctors recommended him get a full body check-up in order to determine the problem with him.

After that, Shinde, the Shiv Sena leader hospitalized, talked to the media for a few moments, stating that he is perfectly fine. “I am alright,” he replied, trying to disarm any worry about his health, “badhiya hai [all good].” Nevertheless, the situation created concern since Shinde had a high fever and other health complications.

Shinde had gone to his hometown of Satara district on Friday, which gave rise to rumors that he was dissatisfied with the way the new government was going. While he was in Satara, he got a high fever and had to be hurried to the hospital. On Monday, BJP’s general secretary for Maharashtra, Girish Mahajan, met Shinde in the hospital. Mr Mahajan later assured the public that Shinde was improving as he also celebrated his birthday.

Mahajan also used the occasion to deny reports that there was factionalism in the ruling coalition Mahayuti. ”I saw Eknath Shinde, and he has fairly good humor. There are no problems or conflicts between the leaders. We had a good talk about the plans and schedules of the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of the new Maharashtra chief minister on December 5,” Mahajan said to journalists. He also stressed that leaders have the single desire to march together for the people in Maharashtra.

The state is prepared for the swearing-in ceremony, but Shinde’s condition is of medical concern. However, the positive response indicates improvement.
