The Karnataka Home Minister, G. Parameshwara, announced that eight people had been arrested in the investigation surrounding the brutal murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty. After a Friday high-level meeting, Parameshwara reviewed the law and order situation with Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal and Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan, together with other senior police officials.
Suhas Shetty defended police records as a rowdy sheeter and held the leading position in the Fazil murder case until he met his death at the hands of attackers during a violent assault on Thursday night. Kinnipadavu village, situated under the Bajpe police station in Mangaluru, experienced the incident at 8:30 PM. The police investigation shows that Shetty moved in his vehicle with five companions when a minimum of five or six attackers with weapons blocked their path. The attackers filmed his violent machete and sword injuries using CCTV security cameras. Shetty died after hospital personnel transported him to the AJ Hospital.
Police recovered three vehicles that apparently served in carrying out the criminal act during their investigation. One of the confiscated vehicles contained deadly weapons. Evidence points to the fact that authorities consider this assault to be a planned, deliberate action.
Sources from a news agency reported that police confirmed Shetty received threatening posts on social media before his death. The “Target Killer” Instagram profile exhibited threatening content, which showed Shetty and other persons who previously faced murder charges before being permanently deactivated. The social media activities serve as a focus for investigators in their current criminal investigation.
The murder event has increased worries about the growing political conflicts, along with religious tensions in the affected area. Regional law enforcement organisations enhanced both security surveillance measures and patrol operations near high-risk locations to stop possible disturbances. Investigators maintain their investigation efforts to establish both the murder rationale and to identify more possible perpetrators.
