Ernakulam: On Monday the Enforcement Directorate (ED) began conducting search operations at residences and locations associated with former members of the banned organisation known as the Popular Front of India (PFI) in four districts of Kerala.
These operations were carried out by ED personnel working with law enforcement and paramilitary forces starting at 6 am. A total of 11 locations, in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad were searched.
According to sources with the situation the searches included Abdul Latheefs residence in Chavakkad, who was previously a leader of PFI in the Thrissur district. The residence of Jamal Muhammad, PFI district president in Ernakulam district was also part of these search operations.
An official statement from the enforcement agency is expected soon. The updates will be provided once their response becomes available. The actions taken by ED have attracted attention.
