Delhi– In a distressing turn of events, a woman from Darjeeling, West Bengal, endured a week-long nightmare in the national capital, allegedly subjected to brutal assault, torture, and rape by a friend, identified as Paras (28). The accused, arrested on February 2, faces charges including rape, sodomy, and causing hurt.

The victim had been residing with Paras for about a month in a rented accommodation in Raju Park, Neb Sarai area, south Delhi. The horrifying ordeal came to light on January 30 when the Neb Sarai police received a PCR call reporting a woman being beaten by her husband. Responding promptly, the police rescued the woman and rushed her to AIIMS, where she was hospitalized with approximately 20 injury marks on her body. Recently discharged, the survivor revealed shocking details to the police.

The woman, hailing from Darjeeling, had come in contact with Paras over the phone and befriended him over the last 3-4 months. Initially planning to reach Bengaluru for a job as a housemaid, she decided to halt in Delhi, where Paras assured her accommodation and job assistance. However, the situation took a dark turn as Paras allegedly began physically assaulting and sexually assaulting her for a week. Disturbingly, he even reportedly poured hot dal over her, causing burn injuries.

Following the victim’s complaint, the police registered an FIR on January 30 under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Paras, originally from Uttarakhand and employed as a cook, now faces a thorough investigation as authorities delve into the shocking details of this distressing crime.
