New Delhi: The two-day winter session of the Delhi Assembly starting from Friday is likely to be a stormy one. The ruling party and the opposition have prepared a strategy to put each other in the dock. The ruling party will attack the LG and the Centre, talking about the working style of the bureaucrats and its impact on public interest works, while the opposition will demand answers from the government on problems related to public interest.
Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said that checking of visitors will be more stringent than earlier.
“The visitors during the Assembly session have to take passes, which are issued to only those who come on MLA recommendations. The passes are not issued without the Speaker’s signatures,” he added.
The security guards see their passes and they are thoroughly checked, the Assembly Speaker said, adding that the checking will be more stringent this time. The session is likely to witness heated debates on alleged witch-hunt of the AAP government by the Centre, sources said.
The Delhi Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill 2003 can be introduced in the House only by Finance Minister Atishi. Let us tell you that the Delhi government has called a two-day session. During this period, there will be two meetings of the House on 15th and 18th December. This session has not been listed as the ‘Winter Session’ of the Assembly, but these meetings of the House have been called as the fourth part of the fourth session of the Seventh Assembly. It is being said that if needed, the duration of the session can also be extended.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramveer Singh Bidhuri says that there are more than 30 important departments of Delhi Government. Only a maximum of five questions will be taken in a day. In such a situation, only 10 questions can be asked in the two-day session. According to the number of departments in the government, the government should have called a session for at least 10 days, so that questions related to all the departments could be asked.
