JNU Library Violence Video: The entire JNU campus has been on fire following the violence that erupted in the Central Library on Saturday (November 22nd). The new automatic face-recognition entry system installed in the Central Library of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was broken by some leftist student organisations and JNU Students’ Union (JNUSU) officials late on Saturday evening.
It is alleged that JNUSU Vice President Gopika Babu and some students, protesting against the new entry system, damaged the gate and the machine. This has made the campus atmosphere tense. ABVP has accused the leftist organisations of vandalism and spreading anarchy.
Meanwhile, the administration has taken the incident of sabotage of the face recognition system in JNU’s Dr. BR Ambedkar Central Library seriously. A high-level meeting has been convened today (Monday). A report on the entire incident has been submitted to the JNU Vice Chancellor and Proctor. The damage caused by this vandalism is estimated to be around 15-20 lakh rupees.
According to reports, the university administration had installed this entry system to prevent outsiders from entering the library and increase security. On Saturday, some students protested against the system and created a ruckus and damaged the gate. The JNU unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has strongly condemned the incident that occurred in the library. The organization alleges that the left-wing JNUSU and its affiliated students entered the library and vandalized it in protest against the new admission system. ABVP says this is not just a protest but a deliberate attempt to disrupt the academic environment.
ABVP stated that every time a system is implemented for the benefit of students at the university, leftist groups are ready to oppose it. The organization alleged that turning the campus into a political laboratory has been a long-standing practice of these groups. ABVP asserts that strong action against such anarchy is necessary to preserve JNU’s academic tradition.
