On Wednesday, Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated that investments proclaimed in the Union Budget, and specifically on the high-speed rail corridors and electric mobility, would be essential to diminish pollution in the public capital as well as enhance togetherness and infrastructure. In explaining that the Budget is prospective, Sirsa explained that it is an embodiment of a clear, far-sighted vision that seeks to achieve Viksit Bharat 2047.
The Union Budget represents a new stage in the economic process of the country. It efficiently tackles the important issues like pollution regulation, better connectivity, and inclusive development, Sirsa said. Emphasizing the move towards green mobility, he pointed out that the plan to concentrate on seven high-speed rail corridors then of which the Delhi-Varanasi corridor would be a part, and the target of ₹5,000 crore investment in the electric vehicle sector would end up cutting carbon emissions and air quality in Delhi.
Centre’s decision to increase the public borrowing limit of Delhi to ₹21,000 crore was also received with enthusiasm by Sirsa, who said that this would fast-track the development of the infrastructure in the capital. By referring to the Budget as inclusive, he indicated that it serves the farmers, labourers, women, youth, senior citizens, entrepreneurs, and traders, and enhances the economy on the whole.
On actions of women, Sirsa reported that the women’s budget has gone up by 11 per cent, with ₹10,000 crore of it being spent on the building of hostels for girls in the city. He further proposed that women-based Farmer Producer Organisations will be associated with markets with allocation of ₹100 crore, with schemes of ₹5 lakh crore supporting women entrepreneurs associated with self-help groups through Lakhpati Didi 2.0, among others.
Sirsa also boasted of higher investments in skill development, MSMEs, start-ups, and exports, calling the Budget a big relief to small traders and entrepreneurs. He also reported sustained welfare assistance of the poor in the form of food security, residential accommodations, medical services, educational and work programmes, terming the Budget as balanced and growth-driving.
