In an update it has been determined that Manish Sisodia, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will remain in custody for an additional six months. The Supreme Court has denied his bail request, in relation to the Delhi liquor policy case. This decision follows the discovery of a money trail connected to the case. The court has instructed that the trial must be concluded within the 6 to 8 months.
The court emphasized that a substantial amount of Rs 338 crore has been linked to this case through evidence. Additionally it was noted that if the trial does not reach its conclusion within the given timeframe Mr. Sisodia will have an opportunity to reapply for bail.
Mr. Manish Sisodia, who is a trusted aide to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been in custody since February due to his alleged involvement in a liquor related scandal. It is important to highlight that he is facing charges from both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED). Throughout this challenging situation Mr. Sisodia has consistently maintained his innocence.
The arrest of Mr. Sisodia by authorities has sparked opposition from AAP with them referring to it as an “assault on the governance model in Delhi.” As someone for educational initiatives as part of their role within AAP Mr. Sisodia played a crucial role in developing and implementing significant policies, within the state.
