New Delhi: In the Lodhi Colony, two people were severely injured when an Audi car speeding crashed into their scooter near the Jor Bagh post office in Delhi, police said on Tuesday. Immediately rushed to a trauma centre for medical treatment; the victims were identified as Naitik and Tushar. Naitik is in stable condition, while Tushar is critical, the officials said.

Social media has also surfaced a video of the luxury vehicle as it sits at the accident scene, with severe frontal damage on a red Audi. They were seen inspecting the car and finding evidence on the scene. At the time of the incident, the body contained only two occupant shells.

The Delhi Police have cited reckless and negligent driving in its case under sections 281/125 (A) and Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, sections 279/337. Both of the accused individuals, the driver and the passenger next to him, were detained. The detained people, according to authorities, are BBA students. Whether the driver was intoxicated by alcohol or other factors was being investigated further to figure out what happened.

The reckless driving incident has again something to worry about regarding road safety overall in the national capital. The authorities have requested the drivers to follow the traffic rules and check if they are not overspeeding, particularly in areas like Lodhi Colony which are crowded. The case is currently in review, and appropriate legal action against those responsible for the accident will be taken.
