Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta on Tuesday expelled 12 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, including opposition leaders Atishi and Gopal Rai, from the House for the day for sloganeering during Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s address.

Among the other AAP leaders excluded from the assembly are Veer Singh Dhingan, Mukesh Ahlawat, Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed, Anil Jha, Vishesh Ravi, and Jarnail Singh.

Atishi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of insulting BR Ambedkar by removing his photograph from the Chief Minister’s office. “The BJP has shown its true colors by removing Babasaheb Ambedkar’s portrait. Does it believe Modi can replace Babasaheb?” Atishi said at a press conference.

The former chief minister said that Ambedkar’s portraits had been taken out of the chief minister’s office in the assembly and the Delhi Secretariat by the BJP-led government.

During his address to the assembly, LG Saxena mentioned the government’s agenda to table the CAG report, saying, “My government, in its first Cabinet meeting, decided to table the CAG reports. This will pave the way to know and remove the administrative deficiency of the last government. Corruption-free governance, women’s empowerment, clean Delhi, rejuvenation of Yamuna, and clean drinking water will be focus areas of the government in the coming months.”

Meanwhile, MLA Sanjeev Jha said, “There is no one bigger than Babasaheb Ambedkar. We will protest, and therefore, they did this. We will continue to protest.”
