New Delhi: Preparations for security arrangements have intensified in Delhi on the occasion of Independence Day on 15 August. This time the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to make the security check more stringent. According to DMRC officials, security checks have been increased at major metro stations, and this system will soon be implemented at other stations as well.
This can have a direct impact on passengers, especially during peak hours, when long queues are expected at metro stations in the morning and evening. Given this situation, DMRC has requested passengers to keep track of time and cooperate with the checking process. If necessary, it is advisable to reach the metro station a little earlier than the scheduled time.
Every year, DMRC tightens security measures on Independence Day, Republic Day and other important occasions to avoid any untoward incident. According to officials, similar strict measures are being taken this time as well.
Technical work in the metro is also in full swing
The Delhi Metro is not only safety conscious but is also making rapid progress on its Phase-4 project. Recently, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has successfully completed the construction of the underground tunnel between Tughlakabad and Tughlakabad Railway Colony. This tunnel is an important part of the corridor extending from Aerocity to Tughlakabad.
The tunnel is about 18 metres deep, with 559 rings installed, with an internal diameter of 5.8 metres. It has been built using EPBM (Earth Pressure Balancing Method) technology, which is considered a modern and safe method for tunnel construction. The concrete rings of the tunnel were manufactured in a special mechanical casting yard located in Mundka area of Delhi and were strengthened through steam curing.
Under the Phase-4 project, more than 40 km of underground lines are being constructed, including about 19 km of underground lines in the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor. This project will further strengthen the connectivity of Delhi Metro.
