New Delhi: The CBI has formally arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday. The development came after the Rouse Avenue Court allowed the CBI to examine Kejriwal in the courtroom and asked it to place on record the material that they have for his arrest
Kejriwal was brought to Rouse Avenue Court by CBI on Wednesday morning for a hearing in the excise policy case where Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal also accompanied him.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court heard Arvind Kejriwal’s petition against the Delhi High Court order putting an interim stay on his bail in the money laundering case linked to liquor excise policy.
The Supreme Court of India has scheduled Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea for June 26 after the High Court decided to suspend the bail a trial court granted him in connection with the money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.
A vacation bench of Justices Manoj Misra and SVN Bhatti said it would like to wait for the high court’s order to be pronounced.
“Just like BJP worked in the last 10 years, it has started working in the same way after coming to power again. They are using ED-CBI to suppress those people who are no longer bowing down to BJP. What was the compulsion of CBI to arrest Arvind Kejriwal at night? They knew that Supreme Court can grant bail to Arvind Kejriwal today. BJP never wants Arvind Kejriwal to come out and serve the people and fight for them. We have faith in the judiciary, he will come out and serve the people”, wrote AAP on X.
