New Delhi: The suspension of Raghav Chaddha, a Member of Parliament, from the Aam Aadmi Party has been lifted by the Rajya Sabha. He had been suspended from the house on August 11th. Chaddha decided to challenge this decision by approaching the Supreme Court. Sharing his reaction MP Raghav Chaddha mentioned that he was suspended from the Rajya Sabha on August 11th and sought to have this suspension overturned through means. The Supreme Court took note of his case. As a result his suspension was lifted after a period of 115 days.
Chaddha expressed his satisfaction with the revocation of his suspension and expressed gratitude towards both the Supreme Court and Jagdeep Dhankhar, Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. In a video message he emphasized how for those 115 days he was unable to raise his voice in Parliament or ask questions to the government. He also thanked all those who supported him during this time.
It is worth mentioning that on November 3rd the Supreme Court advised Chaddha to apologize to Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar regarding their disagreement over the selection committee issue. The court suggested that considering this matter with empathy could be beneficial for all parties involved.
Notable action against Raghav Chaddha was initiated on August 11th when BJP MPs accused him of participating in a proposal without their consent.
The suggestion required the establishment of a committee to look into the Delhi Services Bill, which has been a topic of controversy. Chaddha’s return follows a time of upheaval and legal actions signalling the conclusion of a phase that commenced with his suspension back, in August.
