In response to rising air pollution in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s government has taken a drastic step. Starting November 1, 2025, only BS6 commercial vehicles will be permitted to enter the capital’s borders. This new government order completely bans the entry of all older commercial vehicles, including BS4 and BS5 vehicles. This decision was taken to improve Delhi’s deteriorating air quality and control pollution levels.

According to the government’s decision, all cargo vehicles registered outside Delhi that do not meet the BS-VI (BS6) emission standard will not be allowed to enter the capital.

What is the new rule?

Following an order from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s government has issued new regulations. The government has clarified that, starting November 1, 2025, only BS-6 compliant commercial vehicles will be permitted to enter Delhi. Under this regulation, entry of all older commercial vehicles, including BS-4 and BS-5 vehicles, will be completely prohibited.
