On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu will be participating in the grand celebrations of Dussehra in Delhi. The celebrations, which will be held at the grounds of the historic Red Fort and will be organised by the IP Extension Ramleela Committee, will see the ceremonial burning of effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran. This year, security has been intensified a lot, and approximately 20000 police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed to ensure that the celebration is smooth and safe.

The Lav Kush Ramleela, organized at the Red Fort last year, was also attended by Prime Minister Modi, together with President Murmu, where he took part in the symbolic shooting of arrows and effigies of the demons, emphasizing the power of courage, truth, and peace. In his speech, Modi stressed the ancient motto of Dussehra, that courage, virtue, and integrity can prevail over evil, that such principles are still relevant to the country.

The security measures have been tightened this year owing to the massive crowd that is anticipated and to guard against any untoward happening. The police have established various checkpoints, deployed rapid reaction teams, and stationed plainclothes personnel to check the proceedings. There is increased surveillance in sensitive areas and in places where people gather; emergency medical services and fire brigades have been positioned in strategic places.

President Murmu will also pay a visit to Madhavdas Park at the Red Fort grounds, where the Dussehra program is underway by the Shri Dharmic Ramleela Committee. The President and the Prime Minister are also likely to come in at around 6 PM and join the traditional celebrations. In the wake of tight security measures and a grand ceremonial programme, the Dussehra festivities in Delhi this year are destined to be a spectacular show with a blend of cultural heritage, devotion, and participation of the leadership of the country.
