Currently, the opposition Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which Ajit Pawar heads has come up with its first list of its candidates for the Delhi Vidhan Sabha Election 2025. This major announcement came after the party had finalized its approval on the party’s Parliamentary Board.
The party’s National General Secretary and Chief National Spokesperson, Brijmohan Shrivastav, said that 11 candidates will be in the fray for the first phase. These candidates are from different Assembly constituencies in Delhi to have clear projections of NCP to have a strong base in the capital.
In Shrivastav’s opinion, the candidates express the goals and values of the NCP party. ”These candidates we are sure will be able to uphold our parties agenda on development and future of Delhi, “he said.
Most of the prominent candidates are Ratan Tyagi for the Burari constituency, Shri Mulayam Singh for Badli, Khalid Ur Rehman for Chandni Chowk and Narender Tanwar for Chhatarpur. NCP, Okhla, will be contested by Imran Saifi and Sangam Vihar by Qamar Ahmad. Such names represent the party’s conscious attempt to get the right representation from across the significant constituencies.
On the same note, in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections, Lt. Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has instructed the Commissioner of Police to increase scrutiny on persons in cars that are supposedly ‘private’ vehicles from Punjab entering Delhi. This move was made after Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit said that lakhs of rupees are being pumped into Delhi for the elections.
Dikshit apprehended that private cars, reported to be accompanied by Punjab police, use the vehicles to ferry huge amounts of cash. He has also urged the newly appointed Punjab director general of police and state governments of Haryana and Rajasthan to keep a close watch on the vehicles and their movement as well to avoid misuse of circumstances during the electoral process.
