A massive fire broke out late Friday night near the Rithala Metro Station in Rohini, Delhi, causing a major disaster. The flames spread rapidly within a short time. Upon receiving information, 29 fire engines arrived at the scene, and after hours of effort, the fire was brought under control. Approximately 400 to 500 huts were completely destroyed in the incident. Thousands of people living in these huts were rendered homeless overnight. Many were unable to save their daily necessities, documents, and belongings. Two people were seriously burned in the fire; one of them died, while the other is hospitalized and is reported to be in critical condition. A child was also reported injured.

A massive fire broke out in a slum near the Rithala Metro Station in Delhi’s Rohini Sector 5 on Friday night. The fire broke out at around 10:56 pm in the slums near the Delhi Jal Board staff quarters. The fire spread so rapidly that it engulfed 400 to 500 slums.

Upon receiving the information, several fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene, and after an overnight effort, the fire was completely brought under control on Saturday morning. Two people were injured in the incident. Rajesh (about 30 years old) suffered severe burns and has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment. Munna (about 30 years old) died. His body was recovered and handed over to the local police. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The administration and local teams are assisting the affected families.

Delhi Fire Service officer S.K. Dua, giving details of the incident, said they received information about a fire in the slums of the Bengali Basti, located between the Rithala Metro Station and the Delhi Jal Board complex. Dua said, “Fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the scene as soon as the information was received. A total of 29 fire tenders were deployed, and the fire is currently under control. It has been reported that one child was injured and has been sent to the hospital by ambulance. No other casualties have been confirmed yet.”
