On the occasion of Holi, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari joined the party workers in Delhi and extended festive greetings by making a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over its protest against the delay in the free LPG cylinder rollout. In a bid to not politicize the festival, he asked people to enjoy the occasion without dividing the society.

To AAP’s demonstration, Manoj Tiwari reasserted the current scheme of providing free LPG cylinders, which was underway and would follow in a month. “We are celebrating Holi with all our party workers in Delhi itself,” he told a news agency. “I wish everyone greetings. Holi occurs a single time a year and persons trying to create unnecessary controversy aren’t doing the correct thing. Holi waale Holi manaayein, Jumma waale Jumma manaayein.”

Behaving to address the concerns raised by AAP, Tiwari claimed that the BJP-led government was in the process of categorizing beneficiaries and implementing them properly. They will provide us with the free LPG cylinders. “We are still pretty close to proceeding with this particular categorization,” he said, “and hopefully we’ll be able to do that in about a month from now.”

AAP is pressuring the BJP government to live up to its promise at once, saying that delays unduly affect those who would benefit from it. But the BJP has defended its stance, insisting it has first to lay the groundwork for such a scheme.

Delhi BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva had earlier in the day echoed that the party was still committed to bringing its promises as listed in its Sankalp Patra (manifesto). The political tussle between Amarinder Singh and Amarinder Sena continues, all eyes will be on the BJP’s timetable for carrying out the much debated free LPG cylinder scheme.
