New Delhi: On Monday, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia will meet with Delhi chairman Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The day before, the party chairman declared that he would step down and refuse to take the chief minister’s seat unless he had a “certificate of honesty.”
The national convener of the AAP declared that he would take over as chief minister and Manish Sisodia as his deputy “only when people say we are honest”.
On Monday, a party official declared, “Today, Kejriwal and Sisodia will meet. This will be the first meeting after their decision. The topic of the next chief minister is probably going to come up at the meeting as well.” The meeting is slated to be held at the chief minister’s official residence in the Civil Lines area.
After his release on bail from Tihar Jail on Friday in connection with an excise policy fraud case, Mr. Kejriwal announced that the AAP MLAs will convene in a few days and that a party member would take on the position of chief minister.
His unexpected statement created a lot of chatter about his possible replacement, including the names of his ministers Atishi and Gopal Rai, as well as his wife Sunita.
