As many as 223 employees were removed from the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) with immediate effect on the order of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. It is alleged that the then chairperson of the DCW, Swati Maliwal, had appointed her without permission, going against the rules.
The Department of Women & Child Development (DWCD) asked the DCW to discontinue the services of all contractual staff with immediate effect who have been appointed by going beyond its delegated power and without following various procedures laid down.
The DWCD had informed the DCW that the grantee institutions shall not act or undertake any activity that entails additional financial liability for the government without the prior approval of the Administrative Department and Finance/Planning Department, like creation of posts, grant of pay scales higher than those of corresponding posts in the government of NCT of Delhi,” the letter read.
Further, the letter claims that the 223 contractual posts were “irregular” as due procedure was not followed and approval of Lt Saxena was not taken.
Meanwhile, Swati Maliwal is busy campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. She had posted glimpse of her door to door campaign on social media account X.
