Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he plans to submit to Tihar Jail on Sunday due to health issues under the spotlight. Currently, out on interim bail about a fake mark sheet forgery case, he stressed serious medical check-ups for possible serious ailments and appealed to Delhites to take care of his sick parents being left alone in his absence.
Stating that he would come back despite having to go back to jail, Kejriwal affirmed his stand against what he considered authoritarianism and vowed to continue for the country’s welfare. He reported previous traumatic experiences as including being assaulted and denied medical attention while in detention in the past. Kejriwal was seen showing a noticeable weight loss which made many people think that there must be something seriously wrong with him, seeing that he is about to go back to confinement again.
Firm with his resolve, Kejriwal swore to stay committed to the upliftment and development of Delhi even from behind bars, assuring to stick to AAP’s promises, including free electricity, healthcare, and financial aid for the mothers and sisters. When conveying his concern for his elderly parents but more so his sick mother, the man called on well-wishers and supportive people to come to his aid.
Out of all these scams, Kejriwal and several AAP leaders were accused of corruption involving the liquor policy skewed to favour some individuals. Nevertheless, Kejriwal and AAP continue their fight legally, including a recently rejected appeal to extend the interim bail in the Supreme Court. He has sought regular bail in the case from a Delhi court about the excise policy scam.
The unfolding events show that Kejriwal is not a quitter and, indeed, a very determined political leader with a relentless commitment to his agenda. His case as he prepares for his term in jail is, in this respect, a poignant reminder of the challenges and costs involved in the struggle for political change and governance in India’s burgeoning democracy.
