New Delhi: Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot on Monday joined BJP after quitting as Minister and MLA of AAP just a day ago.

According to him, the AAP, under the leadership of the alleged political party, has completely lost its aim and started keeping votes instead of putting the people of Delhi first. He said that the party had gone a step further by neglecting the plight of the citizens’ rights and focusing on a political course.

The 50-year-old, who is a well-known Jat face from Rohtak, further attacked AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal and pointed out several issues that he said have discredited AAP. Gahlot mentioned the “Sheeshmahal” scam and others like it, saying that the actions of AAP made many people wonder if the party had omitted its mandate of standing up for the poor and the downtrodden. He said that it was sad that these controversies have turned into mere side shows that detracted from the real questions affecting the citizens of Delhi.

Gahlot, who has been handling important departments like Home, Administrative Reforms, Information Technology, Women and Child Development, has made this change as Delhi is getting prepared for the election, which is likely to happen in February next year. His exit came after two other powerful ministers resigned from Kejriwal’s cabinet.

In April, the former minister of social welfare, labour, and employment also quit AAP to join BJP as the party’s member, thus replacing Rajinder Pal Gautam, who had resigned from the party in November 2022.

Gahlot went on to accuse the AAP government of having Down syndrome, lamenting the non-implementation of poll promises such as clean up of the Yamuna River, which remains choked with pollution. His departure is yet another major loss for AAP as the organization braces itself for various difficulties in the forthcoming elections.
