In view of the program at Red Fort on Independence Day, there will be a full day rehearsal on Tuesday, for which Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory and announced road closures and alternative routes. During this time, traffic around Red Fort will be affected.
According to the traffic police, from 4 am to 10 am, only labelled vehicles will be allowed on Netaji Subhash Marg (Delhi Gate to Chhata Rail), Lothian Road (GPO Delhi to Chhata Rail), SP Mukherjee Marg (HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazaar Chowk), Chandni Chowk Road (Fountain Chowk to Red Fort), Nishad Raj Marg (Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg), Esplanade Road to Netaji Subhash Marg, Ring Road (Rajghat to Bus Adda) and Outer Ring Road from Bus Adda to IP Flyover.
In the absence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Education Minister Atishi will now hoist the flag at the Independence Day celebrations organised by the Delhi government at the Chhatrasal Stadium.
Delhi government minister Gopal Rai announced this on Monday after meeting Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in jail. Along with issuing instructions to the General Administration Department (GAD) regarding the preparation of the Independence Day program, Gopal Rai has also written a letter informing Atishi about the flag hoisting.
Gopal Rai told reporters that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is currently in jail, so it has been decided that Minister Atishi will hoist the flag on behalf of the Delhi government on August 15. Information about this has been given to the department.
