New Delhi: A high-level committee has started an investigation into the stampede that took place at New Delhi Railway Station on February 15. The officials have obtained a list of all the employees and officers posted at the station on the night of the incident. Railway officials have written a letter to Delhi Police seeking the postmortem report of the deceased and the medical report of the injured.

Sources said that the Railway Board has formed a high level committee in this case which will investigate the matter quickly and prepare its report. A high level committee formed by the Railway Board conducted a local inspection the very next day of the incident and 203 CCTV footages were frozen by the RPF immediately after the accident.

In this case, a list of employees was sought from various departments posted at the station, including operations, commercial, TTE, vendors, policemen, RPF jawans and other jawans. A list of more than 250 people has been given to the officials and their statements will be given to the investigation committee soon.

Sources said that the investigation committee will also record the statements of the people injured in the accident, which will reveal the truth of the incident. These statements will also be matched with the documents and CCTV footage present at the station. Later, a final report will be prepared, which will reveal the real causes of the accident. This report will be given directly to the Railway Ministry, after which it will be known whose negligence was involved in the entire incident.

Sources from the spot said that while freezing the CCTV footage, there was a huge crowd on the foot over bridge, making it difficult to walk. At the same time, about 8 stairs were visible from the CCTV camera installed on the upper part of platform number 14-15, while about 10 stairs were visible from the camera below. This accident happened in between them.
