The overnight rains soaked Delhi and other parts of the NCR, and another wave of rainfall had started in the region on Monday. The incessant rainfall has slowed down the traffic flow, flooded some parts of the town that are low, and contributed to the already wet beginning of the week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says that weather conditions would also be fierce in some areas of the capital and the neighboring districts.

The IMD has declared an orange alert in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad, giving an indication of possible heavy to very heavy rainfalls and possible disruption of daily activities. Governments have been urged to be ready against waterlogging and traffic jam issues and slight damage associated with heavy rainfalls. People in these regions have also been advised to keep abreast of weather alerts as well as avoid unwarranted movements.

On the other hand, the cities of Gurugram and Faridabad have been put on yellow alert, implying moderate precipitation with occasional heavy bouts. Although the magnitude might not be as high as that of Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad, the authorities are keeping a keen watch on the situation to contain any emergent challenge like overflow of drains or traffic jams.

The rain has helped to give some relief to the existing amount of humidity and escalating pollution levels, but it has also raised concerns about whether flooding will occur in the city, particularly in places that do not have well-developed drainage systems. Some of the commuters complained of long delays and detentions in some parts of East and South Delhi, and of the same in congested routes in Noida and Ghaziabad, caused by waterlogged roads.

The municipal authorities in NCR boast of the deployed teams that address the blockages and patrol the prone areas. As showers are predicted throughout the day, the residents are paying close attention to any news that comes as they are eager to see that the rain will not, in any way, severely affect the daily routine and, instead, embrace the lowering of the temperatures.
