On Tuesday morning, heavy rainfall struck some areas of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) and gave much relief from the heat and the humid climate during the festive season. In addition to the downpours in Delhi, there were also heavy rainfalls in Noida and Ghaziabad regions, and heavy winds and heavy rainfall were also observed in the capital.

Delhi NCR will experience mostly clouds over the day, and there will be light rain or drizzle in between, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather system has led to the release of warnings: Delhi and Gurugram are on orange alert until 2:55 pm, Noida and Ghaziabad are on yellow alert, which presupposes the possibility of disruptions and calls on the residents to be careful.

It was a much-needed relief during the high temperatures, but it also led to waterlogging in some regions, which made it a challenge for the daily commuters. Remarkably, the Zakhira underpass in Delhi was flooded, and vehicles had to drive cautiously and avoid traffic on routes affected.

As a reaction to the weather, IndiGo also gave a travel warning to passengers visiting and leaving Delhi. The airline cautioned that continued rain and thunderstorms would affect its flight operations and advised passengers to confirm their flight status beforehand. In one of the posts on X, IndiGo reminded passengers to plan to travel at a slow pace because of waterlogging and traffic jams. The airline also pointed out that its crews were following up on the situation closely so that once the weather improved, flights would restart in a normal manner.

The downpour is falling at a time when people are on the move, preparing to celebrate the festivals, and the government has called on all people to be very cautious when travelling. And seeing that the IMD predicts that cloudy weather will persist with occasional rains, commuters and travellers should keep alert to weather warnings and airline warnings so that they are not inconvenienced.
