New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate files a chargesheet against AAP leader Sanjay Singh in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Simultaneously, the Aam Aadmi Party initiates a signature campaign to gather public feedback on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s potential arrest.
The chargesheet, related to the excise policy case, implicates Sanjay Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP from AAP. He was taken into custody in October amid an ED investigation into money laundering. Currently held in Tihar jail until December 4, Singh is accused of involvement in decisions granting licenses to alcohol establishments in 2020, allegedly causing financial losses to the state and violating anti-corruption laws.
The ED had conducted raids on various locations linked to Singh, including the residences and offices of his close associate Ajit Tyagi, as well as other individuals who purportedly benefited from the policy.
Singh’s bail application, asserting he is no longer required for custodial interrogation, awaits a response from the ED by December 6. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party launches a campaign to garner public opinion on Arvind Kejriwal’s role as Chief Minister in the event of his potential arrest.
Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj vehemently denies allegations, stating, “There is no scam. These are all false allegations. Agencies or the central government were not able to provide proof of it…Their only intent is to arrest Arvind Kejriwal and to stop the Delhi government and AAP… Party workers are going to different areas of Delhi and asking people for signatures about what they want.” The AAP’s response underscores its stance against what it perceives as baseless charges aimed at hindering the party’s governance in Delhi.
