A dense layer of smog enveloped India’s capital for nearly half of November, causing eye irritations and breathing problems. On Friday, AQI of 369 was recorded. This means Delhi had ‘Very Poor’ AQI of 369 for nearly 20 days. However, 6 AM on Saturday, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded a marginal improvement in the AQI at 341.

Data from CPCB’s monitoring stations on Saturday morning showed that most parts of the city continued to fall under the very poor category, with Anand Vihar (354), Ashok Vihar (347), Bawana (364), Burari (347), Chandni Chowk (351), Dwarka Sector 8 (368), ITO (343), Patparganj (341), Punjabi Bagh (355), Rohini (364) and Vivek Vihar (358).

Stubble burning accounted for 1.2 per cent of Delhi’s pollution, with projections for Saturday placing vehicular emissions at 18.4 per cent and stubble burning at 1.7 per cent.
