Delhi Dengue Cases: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has attributed to the significant spike in dengue cases in Delhi this year. As of July 6, Delhi recorded 256 Dengue cases, which is nearly
double the cases recorded on the same date in 2023. The number of cases recorded this year have been the highest since 2020. The highest cases have been recorded in the Najafgarh area. Earlier on July 5, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj chaired a meeting which was attended by the concerned departments of the Secretariat over preparedness to deal with this vector-borne disease. Minister Bhardwaj has asked the officials to check if the vector-borne diseases are being looked after at the hospitals.Also, measures to prevent dengue should be disseminated to the public through different mediums including social media. Although the strain is mild, Bhardwaj has instructed the officials of the MCD to intensify fogging and cleaning campaigns, especially in dengue-prone areas.
Dengue can lead to symptoms such as high body temperatures such as 1040F with intense muscle and joint pains, Some patients also witness nausea or severe vomiting and headaches. There are no vaccinations available for patient administration as vaccines are in the development phase.
The treatment of dengue relies on timely diagnosis. More than heavy medication it requires proper monitoring of platelet count and good water (or liquid) intake. Patients are advised hospitalization only in cases when platelet count decreases below the advised limit.
