New Delhi: Delhi’s Friday morning was colder than Shimla. The minimum temperature was recorded at 4.9 degrees Celsius at Delhi’s Standard Observatory Safdarjung. Whereas, the minimum temperature of Shimla was 6.8 degrees Celsius.
There is a clear impact of the icy winds coming from the higher Himalayan region on the weather of Delhi. The minimum temperature has dropped rapidly in the last two-three days. For the first time this season, the mercury has fallen below five degrees Celsius at Safdarjung Meteorological Centre. On Friday, the minimum temperature here was recorded four degrees below normal. However, due to sunshine throughout the day, the maximum temperature remains above normal. The maximum temperature recorded in Safdarjung was 25.4 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees above normal. The humidity level here ranged from 100 to 33 percent.
Advisory has been issued in view of increasing cold in many districts including Una of Himachal. In view of the decreasing temperature, there are chances of cold winds, cold wave and dense fog. In such a situation, the administration has appealed to the people to be alert about their health and be careful while driving.
There are chances of severe cold for five days in the plains of Uttarakhand. The night temperature in Dehradun can remain up to five degrees Celsius. There are chances of fog in the morning in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Pantnagar. At present, there is no forecast of rain in the state even next week.
