New Delhi: In view of security on Republic Day, the national capital Delhi has been converted into a cantonment. The area of New Delhi, where VIPs will be visiting and the Republic Day parade is to be held, has been divided into 11 zones and the responsibility of each zone has been given to one DCP. Two ACPs or Additional DCPs and a large number of police forces have been deployed with each DCP. Thus, around 8000 policemen have been deployed in New Delhi alone.
After receiving inputs about terrorist attacks and uproar by Khalistani terrorists, Delhi Police has tightened security arrangements. Now two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) will patrol the New Delhi area at night. Also, an inspector will patrol the sub-division at night.
Apart from this, orders have been given to arrest any suspect and interrogate him immediately. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has taken charge of the security of Republic Day. So far he has held three meetings with senior police officers regarding security.
Senior police officers of New Delhi district have ordered that now two ACPs will patrol the district at night. One zone has been created for Barakhamba Road, Connaught Place and Sansad Marg sub-division. Secondly, Chanakyapuri and Tughlaq Road, New Delhi have been divided into two zones and an inspector has been ordered to patrol each sub-division. One ACP will patrol each zone. It has been said in the order that in every sub-division, one inspector from every police station will patrol from 6 pm to 11 pm and from 11 pm to 6 am. ACP and Inspector have been ordered to collect data from policemen deployed on patrol, picket, pink booth and front. Also, will check the duty point.
