New Delhi: On Saturday, Delhi Police seized about 500 live cartridges packed in 10 boxes from a motorcyclist in West Delhi when police Checked the identification proof of a motorcyclist on the day when the Delhi Police arrested a man and seized 500 live cartridges in the early morning thoughts in west Delhi. The incident took place in Moti Nagar, wherein two traffic inspectors were checking random motor vehicles in the afternoon.
As stated by a senior police officer, this happened when the motorcyclist was heading towards the police picket. At first, the rider decelerated as he could read the gesture of the officers pulling a ‘stop’ motion. However, he realized that there was danger, so he quickly increased his speed and tried to exit the scene. During this time, a backpack that was placed on his motorcycle was also dropped off, and this was carrying the cartridges.
This has made the identification process hard primarily because the police have said that the rider was wearing a helmet. Police are even now in the process of going through the registration number of the motorcycle to nab the person responsible for such a dangerous act.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Vichitra Veer said that a case has been registered under the Arms Act, and the police are on the lookout for the criminal motorcyclist. He stressed the probability that the police will do whatever it can to apprehend the suspect and protect the people.
The backtrack of such a large quantity of live bullets fuelling apprehension on possession of illegal arms as well as endangering the lives of the capital’s inhabitants. Delhi Police are now looking for people to inform them of any incident that they consider suspicious. This is why traffic patrols are paramount of course, as they act as barriers to socio-legal activities in society. The police have also encouraged the public to maintain law and order as a force by conducting further searches to eradicate the circulation of prohibited arms as a measure of ensuring the safety of the people.
