New Delhi: A 30-year-old police constable was feared dead when he was run over by a passing truck while on duty at Nangloi in West Delhi on Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. when Malik saw two men consuming beer in their car at the railway yard parking area. After he told them to get out, they disagreed and, as a result, used force to push one another.
The police report established that the men who had a one-time scuffle with Malik were using a car to chase him, a situation that happened whilst the two were heavily spinned. They sided his motorcycle, dragged him for over 30 feet, and then ran him over to a stood stilling vehicle. People’s anger has been seen to rise due to this brutal act that has been committed; the police have launched a murder FIR against the two suspects. Of them, one has been identified as Rajnish, who has already been apprehended, and the car used in the incident and a liquor bottle and packets of chips were recovered from the possession of the accused.
However, the alleged reason given by the police that the suspects got angry with Malik when she tried to stop them from drinking seems to be castigated by the first police diary entries. A liquor supplier called Jangra threatened the constable to ‘get work done,’ which stirred concerns about the link to organized crime. While the police officials denied contact with the mafia, they did not explain what was contained in the diary.
The suspects, of whom one person said to be involved in property rental businesses and the other’s family involved in a general store business, are still held for questioning. The incident happened in the Veena Enclave area, and Malik was wearing civil attire because there have been rising theft cases in society. Engaging in a confrontation with the two men, he paid with his life, which is a deadly threat that police officers are exposed to even when on patrol duties.
