Delhi Police have dismantled a drug cartel, arresting two individuals and seizing over 9 kg of Alprazolam tablets. The confiscated drugs are estimated to be worth Rs 1 crore on the international market.

On July 28, Delhi Police received intelligence that illegal supply of Alprazolam was going to take place near Dilshad Garden Metro Station. After this, Delhi Police formed a team in this case. The Delhi Police team laid a trap near Anand Vihar flyover.

Delhi Police arrested Nishat Pal, a resident of Sahibabad. Police recovered about 60 thousand tablets of Alprazolam from the accused. During police interrogation, the accused Nishat revealed the name of his partner Ajay Kumar, after which police arrested another accused Ajay from Sahibabad on 7 August. On his information, Delhi Police recovered more than 3 kg of Alprazolam tablets from a warehouse in Rajendra Nagar, Ghaziabad. According to the police, both the accused have studied up to 12th grade and have worked in the medical field. They used their knowledge of medicines to earn illegal money.

Both the accused used to supply tablets on a large scale in the Delhi-NCR area without any identification or bills. Under the NDPS Act, the commercial quantity of Alprazolam is considered to be only 100 grams, while the police recovered a total of more than 9 kg from the accused, which clearly shows the network and scale of this cartel. The police is now searching for the remaining members of the cartel.
