According to sources, the swearing-in ceremony of its new Chief Minister and Cabinet ministers will be held in Delhi on February 19. The BJP legislative party meeting, however, is to be held on February 17 or 18, when the leader of the legislative party will be chosen. This is a historic moment for the BJP as it becomes the first party to govern Delhi after 26 years.
As per chronological order, Delhi Assembly Elections brought results on 8th February, whereas it took place on 5th February. This meant a major victory for the BJP, which was able to win 48 out of 70 seats, while the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was able to manage 22 seats and was forced out of power. The Congress, which had been the dominant force in Delhi politics, could not even win a single seat.
During its review of the election results, the Delhi BJP unit commenced as the transition of power took place. The party’s state office was the setting for a number of election committees meeting there Wednesday to assess their performance. It was led by Delhi, who was in charge of BJP Baijayant Panda, co-in charge of Alka Gurjar, Atul Garg, and state BJP president Virendra Sachdeva.
The meeting was attended by senior BJP leader Union Minister, Harsh Malhotra along with other senior party members. “There is no doubt that various committees placed their efforts towards the party’s leadership and giving a spectacular victory, and the party leadership has praised the work of these committees,” a BJP leader present during the review session said.
Earlier, the BJP had set up over 40 election committees to oversee campaigning and organizational activities for the Delhi Assembly elections. District BJP presidents and the key office bearers will continue meeting as part of the post-election review. Preparations are in full swing, and everyone is looking forward to the swearing-in ceremony, which will be their real coming to power in the national capital.
