New Delhi: There’s good news for metro travelers in Delhi-NCR. Often, haggling with auto drivers or booking expensive cabs to get home or work after leaving the metro station can be a headache. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken steps to address this issue. On Wednesday, the DMRC signed an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL).
As part of this partnership, a dedicated mobility platform called ‘Bharat Taxi’ will now be available at metro stations. This platform will provide passengers with safe and convenient travel to their destinations at highly affordable rates.
Launch of Bharat Taxi
Under this plan, 10 of the busiest metro stations in Delhi-NCR are being selected. According to DMRC officials, these stations will be selected based on a special survey to cover areas with the highest passenger traffic.
Bike Taxi – For quick and instant access
Auto Rickshaw – For Economical Travel
Cabs – For a comfortable and safe journey
The plan is undergoing a testing phase before its full implementation. As part of this, a special bike taxi service has been launched at two major stations—Millennium City Centre (Gurugram) and Botanical Garden (Noida)—until January 31st. If this pilot project is successful, it will be immediately expanded to the remaining eight busy metro stations.
