Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted that on August 8, a total of 81.87 lakh passengers traveled in all corridors, which is a new record. DMRC called it a sign of increasing confidence of passengers.
According to the DMRC, the previous record was set on November 18, 2024, when 78.67 lakh passenger journeys were recorded. Other high ridership days include August 20, 2024, when 77.48 lakh journeys were made. 71.09 lakh journeys were recorded on February 13, 2024.
This new record of Delhi Metro once again proves the growing importance of Metro in the capital and surrounding areas and its popularity as a public transport. The official said that to meet the increased demand during festivals, the Metro adjusts its operation capacity so that passengers can get a convenient travel experience.
During the festive season, people prefer metro to avoid traffic jams and reach their destination on time. On August 8, there was a long jam on the roads of Delhi-NCR, to avoid which metro was the most convenient option. It not only saves time but also ensures a comfortable and safe journey. On occasions like Rakshabandhan, the popularity of metro increases even more for going home, shopping and meeting relatives.
