New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced an important step to control pollution in Delhi. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has informed that the government is planning artificial rain using cloud seeding technology on a trial basis. Next month in May, the Delhi government will try to implement this experiment. This decision has been taken after a meeting with the officials.
“Chaired a meeting with Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to review strict enforcement of dust mitigation measures at construction sites. Directed officials to ensure: Mandatory use of anti-smog guns, Tarpaulin & green net covers on all sites, Video fencing with PTZ cameras & PM2.5 sensors for real-time monitoring, and prominent DPCC clearance displays at all major sites”, wrote Manjinder Singh Sirsa on X.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that with the aim of reducing pollution in Delhi, his government has decided to induce rain through cloud seeding. For this, some experiments will be done in the initial stages, so that its benefits and disadvantages can be evaluated. The Delhi government will determine the place for the experiment in collaboration with DDCM and IIT Kanpur. Apart from this, important decisions were also taken in the meeting to control dust pollution generated from construction sites.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has ordered that prompt action be taken against violators using AI-based monitoring systems at construction sites. Along with this, it will be necessary to clearly display the DPCC clearance status on all construction sites larger than 500 square yards.
The Delhi government is proactive in adopting the latest technologies to reduce air pollution. Initiatives like real-time air quality monitoring, smog towers and bio-decomposers have already shown positive results. Now, talks are underway with experts and concerned departments to implement the artificial rain scheme under the leadership of Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
