Delhi Election: The campaign to update the voter list before the Delhi Assembly elections has been completed. If you are eligible and want the right to vote, you have a chance. The final voter list will be released on January 6, but the process of adding and modifying names will continue, so that the names of new applicants will be included in the complete list. Delhi citizens who have not yet registered as voters can still apply.
Since November 28, the Election Commission has received applications from 4,85,624 people to include their names in the voter list, while 82,450 people have applied to remove their names from the list and 1,71,385 people have applied to modify the list.
The CEO office said that corrections in entries or deletion of names can be made till the 10th day of the announcement of the election schedule, but this work will not be done till the last date of filing nomination papers. There are more than 1.53 crore voters in Delhi, so the last date for filing nomination papers is 29 October 2024.
The CEO office said that complete transparency has been maintained in the special summary revision of the electoral roll. From October 4 to December 21, representatives of political parties requested election officials to help increase the enrollment of young voters aged 18 to 19 years. Objections were also sought from them on addition, deletion or change of names in the electoral roll. On the other hand, Form-8 can be applied with supporting documents in case any amendment is needed in the existing details of voters, such as transfer of residence, correction of entries in the existing electoral roll, any correction in the issuance of EPIC, or request for marking as a disabled person.
Voters can fill the application online on the portal https//voters.eci.gov.in or through the Voter Helpline app. Apart from this, offline applications can also be submitted at voter centers. For any assistance, people can contact the 1950 toll-free helpline.
