The BJP has only released the first list of its candidates for the upcoming Delhi assembly election on Saturday. The list consists of 29 candidates for the 70-member assembly, some big names, and some surprising signaling to bite AAP.
Among some of the most keenly contested battles of the election, BJP has provided competition to AAP by nominating famous party worker Parvesh Verma against AAP chief and present Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat.
Names on the BJP’s list include Dushyant Gautam, the present holder of the Karol Bagh seat, Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden, and Kailash Gehlot from Bijwasan. Delhi BJP vice president and former president of the Delhi unit Satish Upadhyay has been given the Malviya Nagar ticket and Ashish Sood for Janakpuri.
Sacked BJP Member of Parliament Ramesh Bidhuri has been chosen from Kalkaji to contest with Chief Minister Atishi. Some of the other candidates in the fray are Raj Kumar Bhatia from Adarsh Nagar, Deepak Chaudhary from Badli, Kulwant Rana from Rithala, Manoj Shokeen from Nangloi Jat, Rajkumar Chauhan from Mangolpuri, Vijendra Gupta from Rohini.
In terms of its blueprint, the BJP has had fresh faces along with political veterans on its list as part of the plans to establish its dominance in the national capital region, which has been dominated by the AAP for the last two terms.
This announcement is one of the first shots of the campaign war in Delhi, where the BJP is eyeing to oust the AAP government. When they are out campaigning, candidates are expected to major in areas such as governance, development, and the welfare of the public. More details on the election are expected to be released as the other candidates are unveiled in the next few days.
